Author Guidelines
This page outlines what authors must prepare and ensure before submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Advances in Humanities Research (JADHUR). Authors are encouraged to also review the journal's Ethical Guidelines and Peer Review Process pages before submission.
1. Manuscript Structure
- Manuscripts must be submitted as two separate files: (1) the main document without author names or identifying details, and (2) a separate title page containing author details.
- The title page must follow this order: Title, Authors, Affiliations, Author Contributions, Data Availability Statement, Ethical Statement, Acknowledgment, and Funding.
- Complete affiliation details must be provided for all authors at the submission stage, including all affiliations where an author holds more than one institutional appointment.
- Both the official and personal email addresses of the corresponding author, along with the ORCID iD of all authors, will be included on the final published manuscript.
2. Formatting Requirements
- Manuscripts must be submitted in MS Word format.
- Text should be single-spaced, using 12-point font size.
- Employ italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses).
- All illustrations, figures, and tables should be placed within the text at the appropriate points rather than at the end of the manuscript.
- The minimum word limit for a quantitative study is 6,000 words, including references.
- Manuscripts using qualitative and/or mixed-method designs should be between 8,000 and 12,000 words, including references.
- Referencing and citation style must follow the APA guidelines (latest edition), as detailed in the journal's Article Format Structure page.
- An in-text citation style must be used, with a complete reference list at the end of the manuscript.
- Manuscripts should be edited by an English-language expert, preferably a native speaker, prior to submission.
3. ORCID Requirements
- All authors must provide their ORCID iD at the submission stage within their JADHUR user account.
- Authors must permit their ORCID iDs to be embedded into the article's metadata within the journal's online system.
4. Reference Integrity Policy
- Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all citations and must ensure that all data, ideas, and materials drawn from other sources are properly and honestly cited.
- Citations should be selected based on relevance and scholarly merit only. Excessive self-citation, citation stacking, coercive citation, or the inclusion of references intended solely to inflate metrics is not permitted, in line with the journal's Ethical Guidelines.
5. Ethical Approval Requirements
- Authors must ensure that the design, conduct, and reporting of their research follow internationally recognized standards of research ethics.
- For research involving human participants, authors must provide Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee approval details and informed consent statements, as outlined in the journal's Ethical Guidelines.
- The corresponding author must ensure that similarity/plagiarism in the manuscript is below 10%, with all matched content properly cited to its original source.
6. Reporting Guidelines (COREQ / STROBE)
- Authors reporting qualitative research are encouraged to follow the COREQ (Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research) checklist.
- Authors reporting observational or quantitative studies are encouraged to follow the STROBE (Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology) guidelines, where applicable to their study design.
- Authors should indicate which reporting guideline was followed, where relevant, in their methodology section.
7. Conflict of Interest Declaration
- All authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could be perceived as influencing the objectivity of the submitted research at the time of submission.
- The corresponding author must confirm that there is no undisclosed conflict of interest between the principal author and any co-authors.
8. Funding Statement
- Authors must disclose all sources of financial support, sponsorship, or funding related to the research, including the role (if any) of the funding body in the study design, data analysis, or decision to publish.
- Where no funding was received, authors must include a statement confirming this on the title page.
9. AI Disclosure Requirements
- Authors must disclose the use of any generative AI tools in the preparation of the manuscript, including the tool used and the extent of its use.
- If no generative AI tools were used, authors must include a statement on the title page confirming this.
- Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all submitted content.
10. Data Availability Statement
All manuscripts should include a Data Availability Statement, placed immediately before the References section. Authors may adapt one of the following statements as appropriate:
- Data available in a repository: "The data supporting the findings of this study are available in [Repository Name] at [DOI/URL]."
- Data available upon request: "The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request."
- No new data generated: "No new data were generated or analyzed during this study."
- Data included in the article: "All data generated or analysed during this study are included in this published article and its supplementary materials."
11. Submission & Editorial Conditions
- At maximum, only two manuscripts by the same author may be published in a single issue — one as principal author and one as co-author, or both as co-author.
- The manuscript must not be under review or submitted elsewhere at the time of submission, and must not be submitted elsewhere while under review at JADHUR, unless rejected.
- Once a manuscript has been forwarded to the peer-review stage in the JADHUR online system, it cannot be withdrawn by the author(s).
- Consideration of a manuscript for editorial or peer review does not guarantee acceptance or publication in JADHUR.
- An acceptance letter will be issued only after the peer-review process, and only if recommended by the editorial committee.
- JADHUR reserves the right to edit, modify, or request additions/deletions to a manuscript at any stage, if necessary.
- Authors must grant JADHUR a non-exclusive right to circulate the manuscript and any derivative works, such as translations.
- The corresponding author must register and/or log in to their JADHUR user account before submitting a manuscript through the online system.
- Authors must provide a signed agreement form, in the journal's format, confirming that all JADHUR submission requirements have been fulfilled.
