Abstract

        The study aims to explore the perspectives of Chinese undergraduate students and college teachers on mobile learning. These perspectives are beneficial for the continued adoption of mobile learning in formal teaching and learning and to enhance the effectiveness of mobile learning implementation in the Chinese college context. The study utilised a qualitative research method, conducting one-to-one interviews with six teachers from three private colleges in Chongqing, China, and three sets of focus group interviews with 18 undergraduate students. Thematic analysis of the data was then employed to derive six major themes, encompassing platform usage and user experience; mixed perspectives for mobile learning; evaluation of platform technology and usability; users' emotional and behavioural influences; teachers' roles; influence of socio-cultural values. The six major themes in this study have reflected the experience of mobile learning among teachers and students in private colleges in Chongqing, which identified their perceived impact factors for continued mobile learning adoption in the Chinese cultural context.
